The playlist includes music from queer artists or artists who have always been loud and proud about LGBT+ rights. Mixed in with a few bops that we just like!
Here are a few queer history facts about some of our featured artists:
- George Michael came out in an exclusive CNN interview in 1998.
- Mariah Carey won the Ally Award at the GLAAD Awards in 2016 for her longtime support of LGBT+ equality.
- Miley Cyrus founded the Happy Hippie Foundation in 2014 which focuses on LGBT+ youth homelessness.
- Pansy Division was the first openly gay rock band with predominantly gay musicians, formed in 1991 in San Fransisco.
- And Lady Gaga basically invented being GAY.
